Power Outage Documentation Application
The Client's Challenge
A major oil and gas company had to use full-time resources to manually keep track of the power outages in its numerous oil fields. They wanted a centralized and interactive system which keeps track of the outages occurring at the different oil fields and alerting the respective management whenever an outage occurs.
Aptia's Custom Solution
We designed a system that allows users to input power outages into a standardized form on a centralized business unit database. By design, the application allows users to perform advanced filtering and perform more thorough analyses. The accessibility of the data allows users to analyze the causes of power outages and document opportunities for electrical system improvement in order to prevent and minimize future outages and lost production.
Features and Benefits
Search
The search tool allows the users to perform advanced filtering and do more thorough analyses by exporting their search results to an Excel spreadsheet .
Document Uploading
The system allows users with appropriate rights to upload documents like the monthly and yearly summary electrical scorecards which are displayed in a tree structure for easier accessibility.
The system also provides the users with the capability of uploading pictures of the power outages as part of the input form.
Security
Integrated with network authentication with multiple levels of security. The system is restricted to users with appropriate permissions to be able to input outage information and only for their respective oil field.
Alerts
Users in appropriate mailing lists would be automatically notified by the system whenever an outage occurs in their respective oil fields/areas.
A scheduled weekly power outage report that summarizes all the outages that have occurred in the past week in all the oil fields, under the business unit, is automatically sent by the system to the Leadership Team.
